Update from Miller Homes

Miller Homes were invited to send a representative to the Residents Association General Meeting on 13 October to update residents and address our concerns. They declined the invitation.

Revised Plans for Poplar Road and Larch Road

Miller have submitted revised plans for the remaining sites off Poplar Drive and Larch Road. These can be viewed on Stratford District Council’s Planning Portal under planning reference 24/03282/FUL. Please submit any comments you wish to make directly through the portal to the Council. Note that there is a planning condition on the outline consent that requires improvements to the highways at Stratford before the 650th dwelling is occupied. Over 800 homes are now occupied so this condition is applicable. You may also wish to comment on your wish to maintain the landscaping along the Greenway adjacent the site.

Complaints about Miller Homes

If you have raised concerns with Miller Homes about matters relating to their responsibilities and have not received a satisfactory response, you can make a formal complaint via the Miller website which will be directed to their Regional Office (West Midlands)

Planning Enforcement

The Residents Association will continue to work with Marston Sicca Parish Council and our district and county councillors to ensure that Miller Homes complete Meon Vale and address the many concerns raised by residents about the adoption of the roads, provision of footpath links to the Greenway, opening up the wetland footpath and safeguarding and enhancing the landscaping.

The SDC Enforcement Officer is aware of our concerns and is meeting Miller Homes shortly.

The Future of the Woods, Wetland and Greenway

At the General Meeting, we reported that we will be preparing a Feasibility Study to consider the options for improving the environmental management of our Local Wildlife Site of the woods and wetland to benefit nature and so that it can be enjoyed by our community. It will also look at ways to fund this and to resurface the Greenway path. We are currently working with Marston Sicca Parish Council to apply to Stratford District Council for a grant.

Winter Maintenance of the Stream and Woodland Meadows

Whitings will shortly commence the annual cutback of the areas adjacent to the stream and the meadows in the woodland that are left to grow during the summer to benefit wildlife. They will also cut back one side of the bank of the stream.

Clearance of Balancing Ponds

Following discussions between the Residents Association and Preim, it has been agreed to move to a programme of clearing one of the balancing ponds each year in order to spread the costs of this work.

One of the balancing ponds will be cleared during the winter months. The vegetation removed from the pond will be composted in an area within the wetland adjacent to Station Road. This will save the charges of disposal offsite. This has been agreed with ecologists.
